The first Assistant director is the Associate Directors right hand person. His main function is to ensure that all the associate directors orders and directors are carries out. During production they prepare and draw the call sheet under the supervision of the Associate Director. They oversee all the movement of the cast, ensuring that the principal actors are in make up in wardrobe or standing by on the set at the correct times. On smaller production there he is second Assistant director they may also be responsible for finding and looking after background artistic. Most first Assistant Director also assist the associate director the liaising between the set or location and production office, updating key personal  on the timing and progress of the shoot. 

The first assistant director takes on various responsibilities in the structure, allowing the director to focus more on the creative process. The first AD split the pre-production script down-piece-by-piece into individual shots on the storyboard and then worked with the director to determine the appropriate shoot order based on the time and available resources. . This information is first used by the assistant director to build the entire shooting schedule. During production, the first assistant directors make sure that every aspect of the shooting is on schedule. Progress reports about the shoot are produced regularly by First Eddie and then provided to appropriate parties such as Film Financiers and Team Leads. The responsibilities of the First A D are primarily relative to providing full support to the Director for all production activities. There are ongoing schedules and maintenance work to ensure that all deliveries are delivered in a timely manner and that the film is constructed in a manner conducive to timely completion. Prepare early storyboards to share in advance with cast members and staff, contact the director to oversee their creative vision and recruitment of required filming locations, staff members, appropriate providers and equipment operators. For outdoor filming, it is the responsibility of the First Assistant Director to oversee the weather report to ensure that filming is scheduled. Films

On each day a shoot he must prepare and draw up the next days call sheet. They involves confirming the details of who needs to be on set and at which time the transport arrangements, extras required etc. There details must be approved by the production office before the second can distribute the call sheet to the cast and crew. Ensuring that everyone knows their call time is a key responsibility any schedule and budget and in considered unprofessional and extremely insufficient. Once the days filming has begin he must ensure that all actors are ready for filming when they are required which entails coordinating any transport requirements. As well as make up and wardrobe timetable he manages. In some cases he may also be in charge of finding extras sometimes in large numbers at short notice and coordinating their transport to and activities on the set or location.
The main responsibilities of the first E. revolve around the schedule, but also the responsibility of making sure that everyone on set is on standby in preparing the directory queue for action. Determining the discipline and supervision of the cast and crew is another responsibility previously considered an assistant director. During first supervision, members should report any health or safety issues on the set or location. The first is the need to immediately remove or repair situations that pose a dangerous risk to project participants. The first document of filming is the daily logistics and the daily "call sheet" contains data shared with all the cast and crew, making sure all members work on the same page. First Assistant Directors need a lot of timely communication and attention to detail.

The first assistant directors are the team players who use the organization and the time management skills required to oversee filmmaking under the director and overall director. The first commercials serve as inspiration for the cast and crew. There should be a balance between the attitude of the scripture and the attitude. Team members should be comfortable contacting them with any concerns or needs, while at the same time being respected when they are in the queue to oversee the project. Task management, pre-planning and arson in front of production stalls are at the top of the to-do list for trouble-shooting first. Those considering this type of role should be willing to work longer hours and be subject to constant stress with changing demands. Multi-tasking on the fly and the ability to change the direction of the project is a must for first assistant directors. Due to the demand schedule, many people find that they do not have a social life outside of work. Stress, rapid work schedule and constant change are common conditions for first assistant directors. Those who are successful in this type of role are deeply committed to their jobs and are smartly prepared to handle the unique situations that arise.

He must have excellent organizational and time management skills to coordinate arrangements and to make efficient plans. First class communication and interpersonal skills are also essential as he must deal with a large number of people, convey, messages and give instruction clearly, concisely and confidently. Cast members may be under pressure to learn script lines or to hone their performance and need to be dealt with tactfully and diplomatically at all times. Paying close attention to detail and always attending very high standards or efficiency are vital skills for successful first Assistant Director.
