The second assistant director deals with a lot of people every day, sometimes very big people. Therefore, they must have intensive skills in communication. In particular, seconds must be paid attention to detail to give clear indications of the involvement of several hundred cast-members in film production. The first Assistant director is the Associate Directors right hand person. His main function is to ensure that all the associate directors orders and directors are carries out. During production they prepare and draw the call sheet under the supervision of the Associate Director. They oversee all the movement of the cast, ensuring that the principal actors are in make up in wardrobe or standing by on the set at the correct times. On smaller production there he is second Assistant director they may also be responsible for finding and looking after background artistic. Most first Assistant Director also assist the associate director the liaising between the set or location and production office, updating key personal  on the timing and progress of the shoot. 

The first assistant director takes on various responsibilities in the structure, allowing the director to focus more on the creative process. The first AD split the pre-production script down-piece-by-piece into individual shots on the storyboard and then worked with the director to determine the appropriate shoot order based on the time and available resources. . This information is first used by the assistant director to build the entire shooting schedule. During production, the first assistant directors make sure that every aspect of the shooting is on schedule. Progress reports about the shoot are produced regularly by First Eddie and then provided to appropriate parties such as Film Financiers and Team Leads. The responsibilities of the First A D are primarily relative to providing full support to the Director for all production activities. There are ongoing schedules and maintenance work to ensure that all deliveries are delivered in a timely manner and that the film is constructed in a manner conducive to timely completion. Prepare early storyboards to share in advance with cast members and staff, contact the director to oversee their creative vision and recruitment of required filming locations, staff members, appropriate providers and equipment operators. On each day a shoot he must prepare and draw up the next days call sheet. Ensuring that everyone knows their call time is a key responsibility any schedule and budget and in considered unprofessional and extremely insufficient. Once the days filming has begin he must ensure that all actors are ready for filming when they are required which entails coordinating any transport requirements. The main responsibilities of the first E. revolve around the schedule, but also the responsibility of making sure that everyone on set is on standby in preparing the directory queue for action. Determining the discipline and supervision of the cast and crew is another responsibility previously considered an assistant director. During first supervision, members should report any health or safety issues on the set or location. The first commercials serve as inspiration for the cast and crew. There should be a balance between the attitude of the scripture and the attitude. Team members should be comfortable contacting them with any concerns or needs, while at the same time being respected when they are in the queue to oversee the project. Task management, pre-planning and arson in front of production stalls are at the top of the to-do list for trouble-shooting first. Those considering this type of role should be willing to work longer hours and be subject to constant stress with changing demands. Multi-tasking on the fly and the ability to change the direction of the project is a must for first assistant directors. Due to the demand schedule, many people find that they do not have a social life outside of work. Stress, rapid work schedule and constant change are common conditions for first assistant directors. Those who are successful in this type of role are deeply committed to their jobs and are smartly prepared to handle the unique situations that arise.

He must have excellent organizational and time management skills to coordinate arrangements and to make efficient plans. First class communication and interpersonal skills are also essential as he must deal with a large number of people, convey, messages and give instruction clearly, concisely and confidently. Cast members may be under pressure to learn script lines or to hone their performance and need to be dealt with tactfully and diplomatically at all times. Paying close attention to detail and always attending very high standards or efficiency are vital skills for successful first Assistant Director.

The Associate Director is the directors right hand person, taking responsibility for a number of important practicalities so that the director is free to concentrate on the creative process. During preproduction he break down the script into a shot by shot storyboard and work with the director to determine the shot order and how long each scene will the take to film. They then draw up the overall  shooting schedule(a timetable for the filming period). Associate Director works to make the Director more efficient. The Associate Director plans a shooting schedule by breaking the script into sections that can be filmed in a single day and in the most efficient order. During filming the A.D manages the set , helps line up shots for the director calls , for quite on set and coordinates the extras. The role of A.D on a film includes tracking daily shoot progress, scheduling all shots, arranges logistics, Preparing daily call sheets, checking cast and crew members and maintaining the order on set. They also having responsibilities of taking care of the health and safety of crew. He handles logistics of running the set during production.

The role of associate director is difficult to pinch, as it varies greatly depending on the medium (i.e. theater, TV or film) and the needs of the show and the director. For Petra for Wood (pictured above), it is important to make sure that their performance with the cast is real and enhanced to the show. A director is needed anywhere, so it can be in a theater or on a TV / film set. Really small structures may not require an associate director, so these are usually big-budget presentations that are needed. Associate directors and directors may work for the same business or organization, but with different responsibilities. Directors are responsible for a department, field, or campaign group, while associate directors report to directors and have specific tasks that involve the supervision of others. The Associate Director of Creative Services in an advertising agency may be responsible for the team that works the layout for a magazine. Associate director sets color background, fonts and text format with team members. They have to decide on mixed media, using images with images or using animation mixed with film or video. Many Associate Directors are promoted to these positions from the organization.

Overall they provide the crew whilst also liaising with the production office, and providing regular progress reports about the shoot. Before the shoot his main task is to create the shooting schedule, working in careful consultation with the director in order to fulfill his or her creative ambition. When drawing up the shooting schedule he must also be awake of budgetary constraints, cast availability and script coverage. Preparing the storyboard over the hiring of location,  equipment and checking weather reports are all key preproduction duties for first.

During production they must ensure that everyone is on standby and ready for the directors clue for action. They also control discipline on the set, supervise other assistant directors and oversee the preparation of the daily call sheet. Associate directors are also responsible for health and safety om the set or location, and must take action to decrease risks all time.
